I don’t remember Valentine’s Day being such a big deal when I was in high school. Just in case you haven’t come in contact with any teenagers lately, they are mostly obsessed with the candy, presents, stuffed animals, cards, and so on.

\frac{balloons}{student} > 1

The ratio of balloons on campus to students is greater than one today. This means, by definition, that everyone will act completely crazy. I’m actually glad the principal observed one of my classes, because then at least they were reasonably under control. On our staff email list, the physics teacher suggested an experiment in buoyancy to see if we could use all the balloons to lift a student. Another teacher asked if he could volunteer a student for the “experiment”. It’s my colleagues that make working here great.

  1. At our school there was an intercom announcement telling kids that they weren’t allowed to take their balloons on the bus because they weren’t safe–busdriver couldn’t see through them.

    Happy Valentines Day!
